Supervision Referrals

Dr Rachel Mountjoy has availability for ongoing supervision commencing in June 2025

Supervision

I provide professional supervision to psychologists, mental health clinicians and allied health professionals. I am a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor for the Higher Degree Programs, 5+1 Internship pathways, and the Registrar Program for Clinical Psychology.

The content and format of supervision can be tailored to your individual professional needs and adapted over time. Together we can consider:

  • Discussion of clinical interactions (content and process)
  • Assessment and formulation
  • Treatment planning and execution
  • Clinician strengths and challenges
  • Skill practice and development
  • Self-reflection skills
  • Workload management and burnout
  • Career direction and development
  • Developing a sense of meaning and fulfilment in the work

I also have additional experience and training in the following areas which can be covered in supervision:

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Trauma-informed care
  • Working with third-party insurers (Victoria)
  • Working with emergency services, veterans and ADF
  • Assessment, formulation and treatment planning
  • Working with complex cases
  • Use of Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye-Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), CBT for trauma, and Graded Exposure.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Assessment, formulation and treatment planning
  • Working with complex cases
  • Use of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Inference-Based CBT

Motivational Interviewing

My initial training was in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and after a few years of seeing clients I came to realise that CBT was valuable but far from enough. Learning about Motivational Interviewing and how to attend thoughtfully to the therapeutic relationship and processes made a fundamental difference to my clinical work. I have completed much further training and supervision focused on MI and became a Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) in 2015.

  • Developing skills within an MI framework
  • Integrating MI and other therapeutic modalities (ie. flexibly using MI and CBT)
  • Using MI in the treatment of complex presentations and difficult to engage clients
  • Developing interpersonal skills that facilitate better client outcomes (ie. accurate empathy, positive regard)

Solo Private Practice

I transitioned to solo private practice in 2020 and am passionate about sharing resources and my own learnings to help others run their own practice more effectively and efficiently.
